How We Choose Products
Last updated 2026-06-17
Our Selection Criteria
A product must clear a minimum 3.8-star rating threshold and have at least 100 verified reviews or documented monthly sales before we consider it. These floors filter out newly listed or unreliable products. Within those qualified candidates, we rank primarily by verified buyer demand, measured by units bought last month and total review count, because broad, sustained demand is the strongest real-world quality signal available.
Ranking by Specs and Value
Once demand filters are applied, we evaluate each tool's published specifications: power source (corded, cordless, pneumatic), voltage or amperage, speed ratings (RPM, SPM, OPM), weight, chuck or blade capacity, and battery platform compatibility. We compare those specs against price to identify genuine value at each tier, from budget picks under $50 to professional-grade options above $200.
What We Do Not Do
ToolGalaxy does not conduct controlled lab tests or independent destructive testing. We do not accept payment to feature a product or alter a ranking. We do not fabricate specifications; if a spec is not published by the manufacturer or confirmed in owner reports, we do not state it. All content is based on data we can verify from the product listing and owner reviews.
Keeping Picks Current
The power-tools market changes quickly. New models replace discontinued ones, prices shift, and demand patterns evolve. We review and update our lists on a rolling basis to remove discontinued products and promote newly top-ranked entrants. If you believe a pick is outdated or a better option is missing, contact us at hello@toolgalaxy.com.
